Personal Information

Preferred name:

Karl, but I also don’t mind being called Plane! Use whichever.

IGN:

191Os is the account I will be applying with! My alt account is ilovemyplanex2.

Discord:

Ilovemyplane

Age:

19

OOC!

Shortly describe 5 laws or behaviors that officers in the U. S. have to follow:

1. An officer must fulfill the duties placed on their shoulders by the law, serving their community and protecting civilians against illegal activities with the responsibility required for their profession.

2. Officers must respect and protect human dignity, maintaining and respecting individuals’ rights.

3. Officers may only use force when necessary and to the extent it is required in the situation.

4. Confidential information will remain such within an officer’s possession, unless this is needed to be ignored for what is required otherwise in certain events.

5. Officers must ensure the protection of an individual’s health that is in their custody and take action to ensure they receive medical attention when required.

Why do you want to join Echoes’ Police Faction?:

I wish to join Echoes’ Police Faction as a way to expand my roleplay experience within the server, as well as overall interact with the community surrounding it. I have prior been in other Police Factions on different servers, none of which I will name, and managed to gather experience from them thanks to it. These other factions have given me some good information that may be useful in becoming a member of the Police Faction on this server, although it won’t be everything given that this is its own project. I am willing to experience what this server has to offer in terms of both faction and role-playing experiences.

Beyond that, I already do know a few individuals within the faction so that may make it easier for my personal integration in the instance that this is accepted! I am rather enthusiastic about being able to interact with these people far more in the environment given as well, beyond what I have been able to get outside of their work in character. I do hope to get to interact with both them and the community at large. This may be something that is expected, of course, but it still is a reason why I am applying, nonetheless.

What would you do if you accidentally broke a law, and someone began to argue with you OOC?:

In this instance, if I had accidentally broken a law in character and someone began to argue with me, I would apologize for my mistake and explain that it was such. I would then reassure them that I would make sure it wouldn’t happen repetitively, and that I did not seek conflict in case that is what they assumed. If they continued to argue with me, I would warn them about me bringing it up with staff. Assuming they continue on, I would then message an online moderator to see if they can sort out the situation as I do not wish to start a conflict with the other person whatsoever.

If someone was insulting you OOC for not following a common law (such as reading their rights), what would you do/say?:

I would apologize for my oversight but remind them that those who they interact with are still human and may make mistakes in and out of character — insulting someone will not help them become better. If they ignored what was told to them, I would warn them (like in the prior question) of the fact that I could report them. In case they hadn’t stopped even with the warning, I would make sure moderation was aware and allow them to handle it.

What would you do if you arrest someone? Be short, but detailed:

I would ensure that they were aware that they were under arrest for their actions, even if they already were aware of what they had done. In the case that a questioning is intended, I would inform them of their Miranda Rights before searching them down for any sort of weaponry or other contraband. Once having done so, ensuring that they had nothing on their person, I’d then proceed to handcuff the individual and bring them to custody via whatever I had on hand. I’d proceed to collect their personal information and other details. Finally, I’d proceed to gather evidence following the arrest given that it was within my power to do so.

If someone is behaving strangely, as if they were using illegal substances, what would you do?:

If I came across someone who behaved in such a manner, I would first assess the situation, ensuring that it is safe for the individual, bystanders, and myself. I’d observe the individual’s behavior further if necessary, before intervening and de-escalating the situation to make sure there was no other conflict to come from the situation. If necessary, I would call backup and then evaluate the person as I waited. This would happen regardless, as to make sure they had not done anything that would harm themself further. If it was safe to do so, I would calmly interrogate the person in question about what they may have done and potentially detain them if it became an issue for their own or public safety.

If someone will not give you their identity and you don’t have probable cause, what do you do?:

If this were to happen, I would simply explain to the individual the reason for the interaction and apologize for the inconvenience caused on my part. Given that they have done nothing that should cause me to interrogate them, I would allow the person to leave the situation. If I had proceeded to try and gather information out of them, it would be a violation of their rights and that is exactly what I wish to avoid!

If someone refuses to identify themselves because of of the 5th amendment, but you have probable cause, what do you do?:

Given that I have probable cause, I would establish that I had such by informing them of the facts and/or evidence I have that a crime had been committed by the individual in question. If they continue to refuse to give up their identity, I will arrest them based on probable cause. While I cannot force them to answer my questions, I can still arrest them regardless. After this were to happen, I would determine their identity through booking if that were possible.

Provide us with your character’s backstory. Please attempt to limit yourself to more-or-less 1,500 words:

Chloe Temple, under the name of Chloe Brooks as of her birth, was born on April 19th, 1959, in the city of Los Angeles, California. She was given up for adoption following her birth given her biological parents death, alongside her older siblings (Bambi and Roman). The trio were soon adopted into the Temple family, but even then, their struggles didn't necessarily end. More so financial issues than anything, rather than a genuine inability to care for the children.

Poverty had been a common issue for their new family as of when she was adopted, so the young girl was thrust into that at quite a young age - often being unable to get certain things, even if she wished for them. This was what caused her mentality to not ask for things, given their issues, as she grew older. Her parents, however, were kind individuals who simply wanted the best for their family, and that's exactly what they tried to give them. Chloe's father worked in the factories, whilst her mother had multiple cleaning jobs that required her to be busy with those for most of the time. This led to Chloe often being more-so involved with her elder siblings when the opportunity arose, assuming they weren't busy as well. As a child who was still in her formative years, this was necessary for her. Not only just for socialization, but because she definitely required a caretaker to show her how things worked. This was how she learnt what she needed to know to get around and do the basic things that someone her age would need, as well as some additional skills that were taught to her. It was definitely for the best, or Chloe wouldn't be where she is nowadays if she had been simply left behind to collect dust in the metaphorical sense of the word.

As the young woman made her way through the Californian education system, she did meet many personal challenges. Ranging from the messes that she had accidentally got herself into the more unsavory side of the social hierarchy, Chloe was often met with challenges that she needed to overcome, but that was expected for anyone - even a young person like herself. She took these in stride, even if it did subtly affect her mental state. These incidents, even with her bottling up, would shape who she became later, however. Nonetheless, Chloe did what she could to survive and make her way through the social scene that she was placed in as well as do well with her education. She wasn't the smartest when it came to grades, yes, but God damn was that girl determined. It was enough to draw the attention of those who needed such energy in the places that she had placed herself in in her educational career. This led to her eventual interest in law enforcement, much like her elder brother who had managed to follow such a path. Chloe had followed him around some as well, trying to get to know what he was doing and make her own judgement out of it. There was an interest in it, that much was for sure, and that's what led to her doing what she had done. Getting herself far more involved with the community, as well as contributing to it and observing those who had caught her eye.

It was undeniable that Chloe, despite her 'dumb blonde' bit she put on sometimes, was someone who would be a rather useful person within a hierarchy that required efficiency and energy to match. This is what led to her exploration of the employment system, ranging from simply being a doctor (much like what her sister dreamed to be) to some sort of politician. However, one role drew her eye the most. Something she knew that her family had some sort of history with.

The Police Department.

Sure, it was something that most had discouraged her from given her personal history, but she still wished to try, nonetheless. Chloe would end up searching for a local academy that met her interest, once she was certain she met their requirements and had the legal documentation for it. When one specific academy had caught her eye, Chloe would do what she could to get an application into the academy itself. This was what that very much did get her anxious given she wasn't sure if she met the qualifications, surely, but Chloe still tried, nonetheless. It's best to do so rather than just let the opportunity pass, right?

It was a somewhat slow process, at least for her, but Chloe had been able to get herself involved in the selection process. At the age of 20, she was sent to complete such. It wasn't something far too long, thankfully, and she had ended up passing through it with flying colors. That may have been a surprise given her somewhat mediocrity in her grade school education, but it was definitely a pleasant one. She had found it rather easy to go through, even though some of the more physical aspects of it were demanding it of itself. That was what Chloe expected, however, as it was police training. She wasn't here for it to be easy anyways, so she accepted the challenge with open arms. Chloe had also met a few other students who were going through the academy system, some of whom had failed but others succeeded in it. She promised herself to not be one of the former groups, as she had no interest in being left behind like the latter would be. They were her friends, surely, but she would much rather not be left behind like they had been and do what she could to advance in the system - a sort of way to spite those who had doubted her, really. Although she would never admit to that, as she did not want to seem petty and still does not.

Chloe would have completed academy training overall by the time her 21st birthday was only a few months away; however, she spent that trying to search for a place that would require the necessary training she had gotten. The more expected option would be the LAPD, given that she had graduated from there recently, but that was not what she had in mind. Maybe somewhere that was new to her, but still somewhere she had been familiarized with through stories and her own research. It was difficult, sure, given the fact that there were a few that had caught her attention, but she had eventually found somewhere. Or a few, but that is beside the point.

Given her amount of energy and time spent finding it again, Chloe had found a small town in the middle of seemingly nowhere that she found intriguing - maybe it was the rumors, maybe it was the connections she had there. Whatever the case was, she ended up making her way to East Falls. Not somewhere she had been familiar with prior beyond a few stories that she had been told, but it was enough to strike her interest, nonetheless. Chloe was determined to scope out the surroundings that she could, even if it wasn't something she was too familiar with. Perhaps that was a good thing, or else she wouldn't have been able to make her way in the community. Though this also involved giving back to the community, alongside working with those who had decided to try and make it a better place than it was at the time. Some may not believe her suited for it, at least from her home state, but at least she had those who did genuinely give a damn. They, alongside her motivation for what dreams she had, were enough to push her into trying to do something for the community instead of simply idling by.

Given her involvement within the community, Chloe would eventually be drawn to the local Police Department. It was something that she had heard about for a bit now, whether it was positive or negative - it didn't matter. She found the Department intriguing enough to attempt to try and get herself a bit more informed on them. While she may not have directly interacted unless she had her own reasons to, she still observed for a bit. There were definitely many options within the community, as well as the Department, that could get her far in life - and that's what she focused on. Propelling herself forward while also getting to interact with the people that she would be serving in the near future.

Eventually, she had managed to get her own opinion made of the place and the department. This led to her attempt at landing the position she has attempted to grab, although only time will tell if Chloe can actually manage to get it or simply wait until the next 'round' metaphorically. Even with this, Chloe wasn't one who gave up too easily.
