OOC:

Shortly describe 5 laws or behaviors that officers in the U.S. have to follow:

Miranda Rights: Officers must inform detained individuals of their rights, including the right to remain silent and the right to legal counsel, before questioning them.

Use Of Force: Officers are required to use force that is proportional and reasonable to the situation. Excessive force is prohibited under federal and state laws.

Search and Seizure: Officers need probable cause or a warrant to conduct searches and seizures, as protected by the Fourth Amendment.

Duty to Intervene: Officers have an obligation to prevent or stop misconduct or abuse
by fellow officers if they witness it.

Ethical Conduct: Upholding integrity and honesty is essential, and officers are required to avoid actions like falsifying reports or engaging in corruption.

Why do you want to join Echoes’ police faction?:

When I first found out about echoes in January I knew I was gonna apply for the police faction at some point when the time was right. Also due to the fact the server is still growing, the police force hasn’t been too alive recently. I want to join and help revive it along with others and a few friends that I have in there already. I’ve always enjoyed cop rp as I was a LT on srp for over 2 years and on five m for a little bit and it’d be fun to rejoin something along those lines again especially somewhere different and experience more than I already have

What would you do if you accidentally broke a law, and someone began to argue with you OOC?:

Simply tell them to take it to character and if they refuse to do so report it to staff to handle the situation as arguing over something in character in ooc can lead to getting in trouble or worse

If someone was insulting you OOC for not following a common law (such as reading their rights)  what would you do/say?:

Im not gonna feed energy into it probably would just ignore it unless the severity of the
insult needs reported, otherwise I’d let it be words shouldn’t affect you in a way you snap back or put yourself in jeopardy

What do you do if you arrest someone? Be short, but detailed:

I would inform the person being arrested of the state of the situation as I’d start to Mirandize them, after finishing reading their rights I’d ask if they’d like a lawyer if the criminal needs to be spoken to in that form of manner. Once they are in custody I'd conduct a search before going in the station and then one inside the station before taking mugshots / processing the inmate for arrival.

If someone is behaving strangely, as if they were using illegal substances, what do you do?:

I’d ask them a few non criminalizing questions to see if their speech slurs or if they give any other signs of impairment. Until I gain probable cause to test the individual professionally I’d sit back and observe their movements, facial expressions and speech.

If someone will not give you their identity and you don’t have probable cause, what do you do?:

There is absolutely nothing you can do in this situation aside from sit back and observe the situation and hopefully get probable reasoning to then but other than that then can deny identification if they did nothing wrong. And if you try to force it anyway you can jeopardize the future case of that individual and most importantly your job.

If someone refuses to identify themselves because of the 5th amendment, but you have probable cause, what do you do?:

Explain to them why their being ask to show identification explain to them why its in your jurisdiction to ask for it and if they continue to refuse if its protocol on here you ask for someone higher in the force for instance a SGT to explain it to

and if they refuse depending on the rule regulation on the server it can lead to a fine or an arrestable offense after they refuse the higher command order.

Provide us with your character’s backstory. Please attempt to limit yourself to more-or-less 1,500 words (maximum 2,500):

Torin Beckett grew up in New Bern, North Carolina, where soccer was the heartbeat of his working-class community. From a young age, Torin’s talent was evident, propelling him from local leagues to a spot with the North Carolina Wanderers by age 16. His speed and vision on the field made him a fan favorite, and his career soared. But fame came with its challenges—rigorous schedules, intense media scrutiny, and the pressure to perform.

At 24, a torn ACL changed everything. After months of rehab, his knee never fully healed, forcing him into early retirement at 26. Lost and searching for purpose, Torin tried coaching and commentary but found neither fulfilling. One fateful evening, he intervened in a mugging, using his athletic instincts to protect a stranger. That moment planted a seed: perhaps he could channel his skills into a new calling.

Determined to make a difference, Torin joined the police academy. The transition from celebrated athlete to rookie cop wasn’t easy, but his resilience shone through. His physicality and quick thinking made him a standout, while his empathy helped him connect with those he served.

After several years on the force in New Bern, Torin sought new challenges and transferred to East Falls, a bustling riverside neighborhood in ???. The move gave him an opportunity to work in a larger city with more complex cases, even the chance of becoming a sheriff instead of a regular police officer. In East Falls, Torin quickly adapted to the fast pace, applying his trademark determination and instincts to tackle everything from robberies to high-profile investigations as he began his new career

IC:

A short message would be here. It read, “Howdy! Thank you for applying to our police department here in East Falls! Please fill out the form and turn it in.”

Name:

Torin Beckett

Age:

33

Education (HS Diploma, GED, etc.):

Masters in criminal justice

Why do you want to be an officer for our community?:

I’ve been an officer for the New Bern police department for quite some time now and I’d like to transfer somewhere new with better opportunities in my career and east falls seems like the best fit place for me to keep growing my career into something more. Being a police officer back home was amazing from being around friends, family and communities supporting me but new bern is a much smaller city and this gives me a chance to make a name for myself elsewhere in larger city.

Have you had any previous training or teaching in our academy?

Not in your academy no, however I am willing to learn from the complete basics if thats what it takes to be an east falls sheriff.

What responsibilities do you hold as a police officer?

They are upheld to the highest standard as their given power from the state to serve as an officer in this community. The most important thing and common goal every officer has is protecting its community and keeping harmful situations away.

Do you plan on advancing our staff hierarchy?

Yes, as best as I can I believe down the road I can bring in important knowledge, leadership skills and overall help to the force and will continue to do this to the best of my abilities.
