Electing a New Mayor or Deputy Mayor
In the case a mayor is removed, demoted, or has left, the deputy mayor will take over as the Mayor until a new one is properly elected. If there is no deputy mayor to take over, a city-council member will take over until the mayor and deputy mayor is elected.
In the case a mayor is ready to retire, an election will be set up as well.
A high-ranking member from the staff team, will make a public announcement in the town hall server stating that candidates for the Mayor /Deputy Mayor Position will be selected in 10 out-of-character days after the announcement. For those who wish to run, they will fill out an application on the forums.
Anyone can apply to become the mayor/deputy mayor, but only 4 candidates will be selected after 3 days. Those candidates are picked by members of the city town council via an OOC discussion and vote.
Once the 4 candidates have been announced, it will be up to the players of East Falls to choose who should become the new mayor/deputy mayor. The final votes for who will become the new mayor/deputy mayor will be held after 3 weeks.
In those three weeks leading up to the election, the candidates will be allowed to hold public meetings, speeches, tell the citizens what they will push for and what they stand for.
During this time, players will be given access to the /Election command (TO BE IMPLEMENTED), which will allow them to place their vote for which candidate they want. They can pick any of the 4 candidates.
All players get 1 vote per Minecraft account. It is against the OOC rules to vote twice by using a different account.
The city-council will then publicly announce the new mayor/deputy mayor in-character and out-of-character. In the case where the votes are tied, the city council will add their votes.
Because we follow modern American law, all characters have the right to vote no matter the age, gender, race or sexuality.
