Backstory 150 words minimum, 2,000 maximum:

Natasha Zakharov was born in Moscow, Russia, into a family that, on the surface, appeared to have it all. Her father, Viktor Zakharov, was a well-respected man in the business world, his reputation as a successful entrepreneur keeping their household in a constant state of luxury. But behind the closed doors of their grand apartment, the reality was different. Natasha’s father was abusive and manipulative, controlling every aspect of their lives with an iron grip. His cruelty was never physical, but the emotional and psychological toll it took on Natasha and her mother, Irina, was immeasurable. Natasha grew up walking on eggshells, unsure if the next word spoken or step taken would trigger another outburst. His manipulative nature wore down Irina, who once had dreams of her own, but now just survived the storm that was her marriage. When Natasha was 16, things reached a breaking point. Irina could no longer endure the toxic environment. She knew she had to protect Natasha from the same fate. With a mixture of fear and determination, Irina made the decision to leave. She sold everything they had and took what little they could carry. Natasha, torn between the love for her father and the need for freedom, stood by her mother’s side, silently agreeing that it was time for a change. They moved to the United States, settling in a modest apartment in a quiet neighborhood. The transition was anything but easy. Natasha, who had always been a diligent student in Russia, found it difficult to adapt to the new culture and language. But her mother was a constant source of support, encouraging Natasha to keep going. Irina found work as a housekeeper, doing everything she could to support them both. The pain of their past followed them to America, but Natasha was determined to make something of herself. She had always dreamed of telling stories, of speaking out against injustice, and the idea of becoming a reporter began to take root in her mind. It was a way to find her voice and to help others who were going through similar struggles. Natasha enrolled in journalism school, and though the first few years were challenging, she thrived. The hardships she had faced made her resilient, and she quickly gained a reputation for her drive and determination. She reported on local events, often shedding light on topics that others were afraid to cover—stories about domestic violence, abuse, and the strength it takes to break free. As she graduated, Natasha knew she was more than just a reporter. She was a survivor, a voice for the voiceless, and someone who had the power to change the narrative. Her past had shaped her into someone who would never let fear control her again. And in telling the stories of others, she was finally telling her own, reclaiming her power, and forging a new path for herself and her mother. Though the scars of her past would never fade entirely, Natasha Zakharov had become something she never thought possible—a symbol of resilience and hope.

(Fictional Story)

United States 1984 Wyoming, East Falls  2/1/1984

First Snowfall

The first snow of the year had fallen. Everyone was throwing snowballs at each other, happily enjoying themselves in the Christmas spirit. Kids were building snowmen, and there was little traffic. The air was clear, and no one was expecting anything... but what was coming to East Falls, no one could have predicted.

3:20 AM - 3/1/1984

In East Falls, beneath the surface, an underworld criminal organization known as "All Mighty Stars" was preparing for America's most audacious heist. They had set their sights on a small-town bank, and the plan seemed flawless. A group of 10 culprits gathered to discuss the final details in a hidden room beneath a bar, confident their operation would go off without a hitch. However, they had no idea that one of their own was an inside man, and the heist would spiral into chaos.

7:00 AM

It was 10 minutes before the bank opened, and the group was ready. The bank started filling with people, all eager to withdraw money. The criminals saw their opportunity. Five men entered the bank while two were stationed outside as lookouts and two others waited as drivers. One member coordinated everything from the outside. Suddenly, shots rang out, causing panic. People screamed, fearing for their lives. As the robbers moved toward the vault with the branch manager, they had no idea that one of their lookouts was an inside man with the code name "King."

Cobra: "Nobody knew this would happen. We thought King was one of us. He’d been with us for a while. We thought the plan would go perfectly."

King eliminated his partner and informed the police that the heist had begun. Moments later, the police arrived, and chaos erupted. What started as a peaceful situation escalated into a hostage crisis. The criminals’ plan was falling apart. With communication lost between the coordinator and the men inside, the police raided their secret place, arresting the coordinator. The plan was now in shambles. The five remaining criminals inside the bank were the only ones left. The drivers, fearing arrest, had fled.

Bang!

Gunshots echoed through the bank as the robbers grew increasingly desperate. The cops wouldn’t comply with their demands. One of the criminals, terrified, surrendered, while the others refused to give up. In a desperate attempt to escape, they began killing innocent people, one by one.

12 dead, 10 injured.

The police stormed in and eliminated the remaining criminals.

In the days that followed, parents, lovers, and friends gathered in grief, laying flowers in remembrance of the victims. Their lives were cut short in a moment of violence that no one could have foreseen.

Could anything have been done to change the outcome?

That question will never be answered.
