Shortly describe 5 laws or behaviors that officers in the U.S. have to follow:
1) 5th Amendment - Officers must abide and respect the right to self-incrimination
2) 4rth Amendment - Officers must obtain a warrant or have probable cause before searching an estate, residence
3) Usage Of Force - Officers should only use force when it's absolutely necessary to.
4) Discrimination - Officers must enforce the law, without being biased on any race, religion, or such.
5) Accountability - Officers are always held accountable for their actions, and are required to be accountable for any action, and or report.
Why do you want to join Echoes’ police faction?:
Why I’d like to Join Echoes Police faction is because of what you guys said, that joining a faction can make your roleplay experience a new perspective of a new character. I am also wanting to help the force as I know you’re really indeed cadets and so I’d like to contribute my time here, and help the department grow.
What would you do if you accidentally broke a law, and someone began to argue with you OOC?:
If someone would begin to argue with me OOCly and I did break a law or rule. I’d go over what the situation was or so, and review the said law, and assure them it won't happen again. But if It happened ICCLy, I would suggest that they have seen me break this law ICCLY and make a report to a judge.
If someone was insulting you OOC for not following a common law (such as reading their rights) what would you do/say?:
I would excuse myself for my indecency of forgetting but also explain that I am allowed to make mistakes because we’re all human. Everyone is going to mess up somehow in their lifetime. I’d then assure them this mistake will never happen again.
What do you do if you arrest someone? Be short, but detailed:
What I would do when in the event I need to arrest someone for whatever law they have broken is to Identify myself asserting that I'm a part of the sheriff’s office. As I place the handcuffs on their hands I would then state there under arrest and provide the reasoning behind the arrest. I would then follow up with their Miranda rights. Then transport them to the station for booking, taking a mugshot. Making sure I would file it. (Discord Filing.)
If someone is behaving strangely, as if they were using illegal substances, what do you do?:
If at all someone is behaving strangely or in usage of illegal substances such as medication, drugs like heroin and or other substances what I’d do is address if they’re physically okay looking out for any signs that they could be under something. (Slurred speech, movements, etc) I’d then approach with caution. I’d then ask questions that someone in the right state of mind would know. Like where are you right now. What time is it? Open-ended questions. After that I would then administer sobriety tests like breathalyzer and straight line and back. I would then if necessary detain them and if needed get them medical assistance.
If someone will not give you their identity and you don’t have probable cause, what do you do?:
As it is their right not to address their identity due to the 5th Amendment. What I would do is address that I need to identify them, asking for ID or such or other ways of contact. I’d then ask open ended questions, Like what you were doing there at that time, why you were there and such. But overall if I can’t get a probable cause to get them to identify oneself I must respect their wish.
If someone refuses to identify themselves because of the 5th amendment, but you have probable cause, what do you do?:
If I do have probable cause, I would then assert myself as an authority of the sheriff's office. If they refuse to identify themself, I would explain to them in something like the following. “As the 5th amendment does state you can withhold your identity. Although with the situation at hand you have no choice to, As I do have probable cause and so it's not an option.” After that I would then State the consequences and that it can lead to further legal action.
