Experience Related Questions:

Why are you applying for the Event Team?:

I certainly haven't been playing the server the longest and I certainly have not attended every event during my time on the server but I can definitely see that the events team as it is right now doesn't have the members to really plan out and host larger events on a regular basis and would be stretched thin when hosting smaller events on a regular basis, with my experience I know that me being appointed to the team would help to bring an invaluable set of skills to help plan out and orchestrate events on a set schedule. Besides wanting to help bring more events to the server though I want to be there to let players know that my dms and others are always open to help them plan out events even if we aren't directly involved when it happens or if it is a server event they are interested in doing no matter how big or small it is, players should feel like their ideas are valuable to the team and that we are always interested in creating better roleplay experiences for everyone.

What creative skills would you be bringing to the Event Team?:

I have a specific way of doing events that involve more writing and background lore to them so that the server itself can grow during the events that I host, this would mean communicating and working with the lore team to have events happen that create more depth and physical lore for the entire server and not just an event that adds some value to the moment and doesn't have any effect or notice later on in the servers life. My skill set varies depending on what I need to do but I have a great work ethic, writing skills, communication skills, leadership, and time management skills. While not all of them are directly useful to the creative process I know that they will come in great help to the team and players when it comes to the event itself.

Do you have any other prior experience on other Minecraft Servers?:

Yes! I have quite a good history of experience on Minecraft, especially with helping to plan out events and even basic moderation on servers, as well as being a community team member for a few servers.

Moderation- While I do not have much experience in terms of direct server moderation I do have some experience when it comes to being a moderator for servers, mostly non-roleplay servers like Skyblock, where punishments work differently and are more structured to an offense-based system but I do have experience on roleplay servers moderating chat, handing out warnings, and dealing with de-escalation to help provide support to players.

Community Team- I have worked on two servers extensively within their community team taking up a handful of jobs throughout the time on both, mostly having started out with their applications department where I would read through and accept whitelist applications for new players while also helping new players learn terms specific to the server and broader roleplay terms like "metagaming and powergaming", I later started helping out with their events department having now helped plan and run seven events for the server. I am proud of the work put into the events run with the events team on my past servers and know that I can provide invaluable skills to help the team.

Scenario Questions:

You are hosting a large Event and a group of players becomes disruptive and is not following the rules. How do you handle the situation?:

Unlike most servers where mutes are the first punishment given for disruptive behavior, roleplay servers are a special case, I would first issue a verbal warning to the players that are causing issues, this verbal warning will be through /msg or /looc to them if they continue I will remove items they are using (fishing rods, weapons, or other items) to cause issues during the event, these items will be returned to them once the event is completed. If their behavior continues despite all of the chances I have given them an official warning will be given to them at the approval of moderators and depending on where the event is they will be removed from the area, if it's inside a building they will be teleported out and their access to the building removed, if it is an outside area I will ask higher-ups if doing /rescue for them would be possible to create distance from them and the players participating in the event. If none of these can fix the problem that we are facing, I will seek out further punishment and ask moderators and my team lead if the players can be temporarily banned during the duration of the event.

How would you encourage player participation in Events?:

I believe that events should be coordinated to be hosted at times that are easy for players to be available for so weekends or later into the day on weekdays, both times allow for the maximum amount of players to join. I also believe that allowing players some level of control over how an event unfolds also gives them further reason to want to get involved, having been in multiple events myself over multiple servers, I find it a lot more enjoyable when I have some level of control over an event and I am able to choose certain outcomes instead of everything being preplanned down to how I am supposed to respond to things and where and what I have to do. Prizes are also an excellent way to garner player participation, it doesn't have to be anything huge but allowing a player to walk away feeling they earned an item during an event can make them seem more worth the time that goes into it as they view it as something earned from the work of the event, a lot of the times RP itself isn't a huge motivating factor and so giving them this prize even if its a plushie for their character is something. Lastly though, player-created events, working with players to plan events that they have influence over the creative process, can help motivate a group (a club, gang, or a shops employees) into wanting to participate as they helped to plan it out.

Availability & Commitment Questions:

How much time can you dedicate per week to Event planning and hosting?:

Between work and helping out my family I have around 11-15 hours a week that I am able to dedicate towards helping to plan and host events, with my timezone lining up with a huge portion of the server and with being on later into the night I am able to cover both EU and NA time zones with doing larger events or smaller flash events that just involve providing some smaller roleplay experiences for the community and the players.

Do you have any commitments (i.e. school, work, etc.) that might affect your availability?:

I currently work full-time, so I would be unavailable throughout the working day and most of the time into the late night, as I work at a store that doesn't close up until later into the night, with me working a lot of the time on the closing shift or third shift. Outside of this, I do a lot of work for my family, helping out where I am needed, so it oftentimes takes away some of my free time, but I still do have time outside of both commitments to get on and help out.

Please provide 2-3 Event ideas that you have and 1 Step-by-Step of an Event’s layout (Example below):

 Ghosts of pasts, yet forgotten

As the night sky started to turn a lighter red, the sun beaming from just over the mountain, the trees began to cover over the last fleeting moments of sunlight, vanishing as the moon began to peer out into the sky. The neighborhood kids are looking up into the cloudy sky the light of the moon covered up by the low clouds a mist rolling over the part as they sat around on the swings discussing what to do for summer. As they spoke, voices would begin to join in on the conversation. As they spun their heads looking to the sandbox a small toy truck moved to the far corner, there was nothing there, the wheels screeching as it moved, almost as if it was alive. As it came to a halt the playground would fall silent the sand moving around as a hand would stick out from within the small sandbox. The kids were startled as they made a run for the small building within the perimeter of the playground the mist blocking their vision as they would finally reach it. As one of them reached out to the brick wall there hand would break away bits of the wall sand falling down to the floor as the rest of the building would begin to drop the mist growing thicker as the thick layer of sand fell to the floor as the sky around them would clear up they would be standing in the sand box.

While this event doesn't have an overall major ending, it allows to play on the mysteries events that happen within the town and provide something interesting for the players without forcing them into situations that involve use of violence.

Second Event-

  1. As the silence was broken, the group was sitting around a small fire the crackling of dry wood covering the silent night

  2. As the sound of crackling wood would start to turn mute the sounds of people running could be heard from just beyond the tree line the sounds of twigs being broken as it seemed to get closer to them

  3. As the group would begin to back away from the fire it would suddenly go out as they reached nearer to the small group of tents near them

  4. The sounds of foot steps racing past them would leave them behind as they looked around nothing to be seen in the pitch-dark night

  5. As there focus would once more fall in front of them the fire would roar back alive as its light covered over the forest the sounds of foot steps vanishing before them

  6. As they would make there way back to the fire they would sit back down a chill coming over them as the fire would emit no heat the brisk cold air pushing against them

  7. Suddenly as if my repeat the foot steps would be heard again the fire turning mute as the cold breeze ripped up the leaves around them the wind speed growing as the foot steps raced closer to them

  8. As if ordered to by the wind the fire would blow out the embers below it falling cold and lightless as the night took over their vision once more cut off

  9. As the racing foot steps reached them they would circle around the wind picking up as it would start to push around the sticks around them throwing smaller sticks at the people

  10. As like before though the foot steps would begin to race away the fire relighting itself

  11. This time though there would be a small bag left behind on the edge of the fire a small piece of paper falling down from the sky as it hit the fire an audile word could be heard "LEAVE" it screamed out as the bag fell open a small plushie covered in dirt and mud along with an untouched and perfectly clean rag next to it.
