OOC:

Shortly describe 5 laws or behaviors that officers in the U.S. have to follow:

1. Law Enforcers must provide full protection to the health and well-being of the person within their custody and insure to provide medical attention if requested, needed, or required.

2. Confidential Material that is assigned to law enforcers shall be kept confidential unless any action requires the material to be otherwise.

3. As performance law enforcers are required to protect and respect human dignity and maintain the human rights of all given people.

4. Law enforcement officials shall not commit any act of corruption. They shall also rigorously oppose and combat all such acts.

5. Law enforcement officials may use force only when strictly necessary and to the extent required for the performance of their duty.

Why do you want to join Echoes’ police faction?:

I wish to join The Echoes' Police Faction because I want to be able to have a bigger hand to the world that was created by the entire team as well as be able to participate in a team who is also willing to do the same. Joining would also enable me to make more friends and immerse myself within the world as well.

What would you do if you accidentally broke a law, and someone began to argue with you OOC?:

I would own up to my mistake and work it out as calmly as possibly with the person arguing with me, if a punishment is handed out for this action then I will take it with pride.

If someone was insulting you OOC for not following a common law (such as reading their rights)  what would you do/say?:

I would acknowledge and be sure to correct my mistake, I would apologize profusely of course and ensure I read out their rights or follow the law they claim is needed to be followed. Being sure to give them the best service possible for the rest of the time.

What do you do if you arrest someone? Be short, but detailed:

I would bring them back to the station, search up their name in the data base to make sure they aren't accused/prosecuted of crimes, then I would put them in a holding cell until further action can be taken.

If someone is behaving strangely, as if they were using illegal substances, what do you do?:

I would use the tools at my disposal to identify what could be the situation, e.i emotional, substance use, etc. before handling them correctly and efficiently and also as quickly as possible and getting them to the Police Department to go with further processing.

If someone will not give you their identity and you don’t have probable cause, what do you do?:

In this situation I would try and persist the information, if this does not succeed, I would then reach out to other people seeing if they may know who this might be or people that might know them. If nothing of their identity can be found then further action will be taken.

If someone refuses to identify themselves because of the 5th amendment, but you have probable cause, what do you do?:

I would let them know that they must disclose their identity otherwise they would be put into police custody and further questioned.

Provide us with your character’s backstory. Please attempt to limit yourself to more-or-less 1,500 words (maximum 2,500):

Narya Souza was born on a warm December afternoon in Salvador, Brazil. A city known for its vibrant African heritage and colorful colonial buildings, her arrival was celebrated with joy, for she was the firstborn of Rosa and João Souza. Salvador, with its rich rhythms of samba, capoeira, and the bustling streets of Pelourinho, became the pulse of Narya’s early life. Rosa, Narya’s mother, was a nurse who worked tirelessly at a local clinic, tending to patients with care while maintaining a deep love for her roots. João, her father, worked as a city cop, often leaving before dawn and returning late at night to ensure that the family was provided for. Though life was hard at times, their small home was filled with warmth, love, and a strong sense of community. Rosa and João taught Narya early on that while the world could be difficult, family would always be her foundation.

From a young age, Narya was surrounded by a rich cultural tapestry. Rosa made sure to expose her to the traditional music of Bahia, where the sounds of Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso filled their small apartment. Narya often watched her mother dance to the beats of samba, her body moving gracefully in sync with the music. Narya inherited her mother’s love for the rhythm and soon found herself joining in the family dance parties, her feet tapping and hips swaying naturally to the infectious beats. Rosa also instilled in Narya a deep love for cooking, passing down traditional Bahian recipes from her own mother. Together, they would prepare numerous traditional dishes, these moments of preparation and storytelling over the dinner table shaped Narya’s understanding of heritage, teaching her to appreciate not just the food but the history and culture behind every dish.

However, life in Salvador wasn’t always easy. Despite their hard work, Narya’s parents struggled to make ends meet. João’s job as a local cop, while steady, didn’t provide a lot of financial freedom, and Rosa’s salary as a nurse only went so far, but Narya’s parents made sacrifices to ensure that she had the opportunity to attend school and pursue her dreams. Education was highly valued in the Souza household. Narya’s parents encouraged her to focus on her studies, hoping to provide her with a better future than they had. Rosa, in particular, made sure Narya had access to books, often bringing home novels by Brazilian authors such as Jorge Amado and Clarice Lispector, whose works painted vivid pictures of Brazilian life and its complexities. Narya quickly developed a passion for literature, spending hours in the corner of her room with a book in hand, escaping into the stories of Brazil’s diverse people and cultures. These literary explorations helped her understand the complexities of her own identity and fueled her desire to learn more about the world.

As Narya entered her teenage years, she became increasingly aware of the challenges facing her and her community, she understood that education, more than anything, was her ticket to breaking through these barriers that often constrained people in her community, but Narya’s academic journey wasn’t without its struggles. She attended a public school in Salvador, and while the teachers were passionate, the system was overwhelmed and had overcrowded classrooms with the addition of  a lack of resources. Despite this, Narya excelled in her studies, particularly in history, literature, and the arts.

Throughout her school years, Narya developed close friendships with others who shared her passion for the arts and activism. Many of her friends, like her, had grown up in modest circumstances, but they had a shared understanding of the power of their voice. Together, they attended local protests and social justice events, fighting for better educational opportunities, environmental justice, and more rights for marginalized communities. Narya was no stranger to discrimination, particularly due to her Afro-Brazilian heritage. In a city where racial inequalities were deeply embedded, she often found herself facing subtle and overt forms of racism, both in school and in everyday life.

When Narya approached 18, after completing high school, she faced a life-changing decision. Her parents, recognizing her potential, encouraged her to apply for a scholarship to study abroad, believing it would give her the opportunity to explore new horizons and access better academic and professional opportunities. Although the idea of leaving Salvador was daunting, especially given how much she loved her city and her family, Narya knew that this was an opportunity she could not pass up. The world beyond Brazil beckoned her, and the chance to study in the United States felt like the next step in her journey. After much consideration, Narya packed her bags and left Salvador behind, moving to a university in the United States to pursue her studies. As she boarded the plane, she felt a mixture of excitement and sadness. She was leaving her family, her friends, and the rhythmic pulse of Salvador, but she carried with her the lessons of resilience, pride, and love for her heritage. Narya knew that, no matter where life took her, she would always be rooted in the culture and community that had shaped her, and that Salvador would forever be a part of her soul
