Why do you want a business on Echoes: 1984?:
I want to open this business on Echoes: 1984 because I believe that there should be a sixth “faction” on the server. The current factions are nice but I think that sports have been left out. The soccer pitch thats currently available is pretty bland in my opinion, meant to be an extra hobby players could take up. I, instead see a vision in sports on Echoes: 1984. It would open a new gate for players to contribute to events in which they are the ones in charge. It would also, with what I have in mind, contribute to the developing lore of the server and make way for never seen before events in MCRP, which is why I have decided to apply for this business.
The Garcia Sports Complex will pave the way for players who wish to experience a new form of roleplay through sports. Players can become local celebrities by showing off their skills in competitions, they can become referees and regulate high-intensity games, they can own clubs and have a shot at engraving their names into history books, or fill the stands for their favorite team and show their support. The opportunities are endless.

Marquis Garcia was born in 1944 in East Falls, United States. He was born into an interracial household, with his dad being Hispanic and his mother being Afro-American. His father was a civil engineer, and his mother was a nurse. He was raised in a very well-off environment, and he was granted privileges others wouldn’t have.
When he turned 8, he started playing soccer in the backyard of their house with other Hispanic kids. They introduced him to soccer and its culture, which piqued his interest. He joined an unofficial club with his friends and started playing soccer on the small, local 3v3 pitch. His parents realized that he had potential, so they moved to New York and made him join a professional youth club. He started playing 11v11 football as a left winger.
He played there until he was 16 when he was scouted by Fall River S.C. and played there until 1963. He recalls a 4-0 game against Brooklyn whom he gave an interview, sadly lost in history, and didn’t make it to today.
Reporter: “Mr Garcia, you were praised for your hat trick and assist you pulled off last Sunday. Would you like to give us any insight about your view of this?”
Garcia: “Well, it was an amazing game. It was honestly such a breeze. In the first half, they seemed to push us deep into our defensive line, but I must thank our goalkeeper, Marco. He saw me from 50 yards away and managed to pull off that great goal-kick. The defenders tried to shred me but I managed to score.”
Reporter: “That’s great to hear. What about the second half where you scored your other 2 goals?”
Garcia: “Well, after halftime the team’s morale was high. Adam scored a flying header with my corner kick. I still remember the goalkeeper’s face, he was sooooo pissed. 10 minutes after that, I just sent an unplanned volley to the ball after it bounced back from the post, that was a lucky goal, I’m not going to be cocky about it. The third goal was just a powerful shot from afar, managed to just get it in the lower right corner. I don’t have any comments on that other than the fact that my ankle still hurts a bit, couldn’t lock it the way I wanted when I took the shot.”
Reporter: “Thanks for your insights, we’ll move on to the coach now.”
When he became 19. He was scouted by a British scout and made the hard decision to move to Sunderland. His second season wasn’t the best, he got injured after being tackled by a Chelsea defender. He was out of the field for the rest of the season after that. Fans report he cursed the defender's lineage, son, wife, mother... His third season was a blast, though. He managed to score 12 goals and 8 assists, spreading his local fame. He played there for 4 years and was transferred to Everton, who was 3rd on the league table at the time. The press thought he was a gamble transfer, but he managed to prove his worth even though he was a substitute for 2 seasons. He became a starter when the club became desperate, as they ended the last season as 14th on the table. He managed to get a self-record of 18 goals and 13 assists in a season. He pretty much became an Everton hero as he carried his team from 17th to 4th. He played there until the end of the 1974/1975 season where he saw his club finish the season in 4th place. He returned to the States after signing with New York Cosmos.
He got the chance to play with Pele, though he was mostly kept on the bench. He managed to score 10 goals and 13 assists in the seasons he played for New York Cosmos. During the 1977 season, he finally saw his first league championship. It was the highest point in his career. He played until the end of the 1978/1979 season and retired.
He returned to East Falls for retirement and saw the opportunity to professionalize his hometown’s soccer games. He formed the East Falls Soccer Association in 1980 and managed to get 2 teams in the local league, East Falls United and ASC Wisteria. The local league started in 1982 and continues up to today, playing in makeshift pitches. Garcia saw this as a huge problem and decided to take money out of his retirement funds and laid the groundwork for The Garcia Sports Complex.
Apart from his soccer life, he has had an interesting life too. Growing up, he moved school a couple of times because of the transfers and moving around. He was mostly antisocial growing up and only started opening up to others after he got transferred to Everton. He was known for his angry demeanor on the pitch. One incident occurred where he got revenge on the Chelsea defender with a suspicious tackle, halting the defender’s career for 2 years. He was known as a calm person off-pitch, though. His life revolved around a home-pitch-pub circle, and his drunken times made him more social than he used to be. He got very involved with Everton fans and Everton in general, he spent his pastime interacting with fans alike.
His love life was not so interesting in comparison to his soccer life, though. He only dated a handful of girls during his teenage years and at most 10 women during his adult life. He didn’t really seem interested in love, rumors from friends say they recall him calling love “pointless”. There is no known information on whether this is based on personal beliefs or past experiences, though.
Overall, he had a pretty successful career for an American for his time and was a pretty mediocre character during his daily life though it could change with his vision to professionalize soccer in East Falls.
What would you do if someone came into your place of business and began to cause trouble OOC?
I would warn them a couple times and if they do not stop causing trouble, I would request a staff member to deal with the situation.
What would you do if someone came into your place of business and began to cause trouble IC?
It would depend on the type of trouble. Club officials and players who cause trouble will be punished according to the rules of the association the sport is under, they will only be removed by the complex’s workers if the association does not have the resources to do so, such as a brawl.
For fans causing trouble, they would be warned to stop their behaviour and if they do not stop, they will be barred for a period of time from entering the complex’s grounds.
How would your business greet and provide service to customers?:
“Good morning/afternoon/evening, would you like to buy a ticket?” he counted the cash the customer gave. “Which side would you like, home or away?” he wrote the ticket’s details, gave them the ticket and opened the gate for them to enter. “Enjoy the game!”
