OOC:

How much do you know about first-aid and general medicine?:

I have my CPR certifications, and I have a basic understanding of medical needs. Along with a bit of psychology.

Give us 3 examples of injuries, and their resolution:

Anxiety - This is an illness that can affect many, while some may be prescribed medication, you can also take measures such as teaching them breathing exercises that may assist in calming their anxiety or techniques that may help them feel less anxious.

Choking - In a sense I consider this an injury of some sort. Ways to deal with this may be the Heimlich maneuver or even CPR if required, depending on the severity of the situation.

BPD (Bipolar Disorder)—A disorder that regulates someone's mood; it can come in waves of episodes. It may affect someone's daily life severely or minorly depending on the severity of the illness, and if left unmedicated, it could put the individual or others around them at risk.

Why do you want to join the hospital faction on Echoes? Answer this OOC:

In truth I want to experience other forms of RP I’ve done basic medical RP however not one where I was able to help people try to overcome mental illnesses—it’s a good opportunity for a change of pace. Plus imagine the amazing lore.

How would you deal with someone that was FailRPing inside of the hospital?:
Firstly, I’d ask them and advise them to “Stop FailRP’ing.” If it continues, however, I’d reach out to a staff member by opening a ticket regarding the situation while grabbing evidence of FailRP so that the player may be warned and properly disciplined.

Provide us with 2 some-what detailed actions of your character helping an injured person. You can choose the injury or illness.

/me Takara pulled up a rolling chair as she sat unraveling the bandage, donning sterile gloves as she took a bit of gauze, applying firm, secure pressure to the wound, and she began to work swiftly and efficiently to wrap it with pressure and clean bandaging, securing the bandaging. “There, now be sure not to itch or wet the bandaging. If you absolutely must come back so that we can re-wrap and adjust it.”

/me Takara grabbed a pair of gloves, putting them on before grabbing a small light. She then approached the patient. “Please open wide for me.” She then proceeded to shine a small light into the back of the patient's throat, observing the patient's throat and noticing the enlarged uvula and sourness in the back of their throat. Then she created a bit of space between herself and the patient. “It appears you have signs of strep throat. My suggestion to you is lots of rest and try to gargle a bit of salt water. There will be some discomfort, so I’ll prescribe you a bit of Benzoate. It’ll open the throat and assist with the pain.”

Provide us with your character’s backstory. Please attempt to limit yourself to more-or-less 1,500 words (maximum 2,500):

Takara or more known as ‘Hime’ Lavoie was born in Quebec, Canada. She was born to a set of lovely parents who’d been college sweet hearts Hanna and Nicholas Lavoie. They raised their daughter with utmost precision ensuring she was well respectable and intelligent. From a young age they sought to push her closer to the medical field, as it was high paying, and they wanted nothing but the best for her. Due to her parents' gestures towards the medical field, Takara naturally began to gravitate to it. Seeming intrigued by the ways of the mind, she sought to become a therapist and help people further understand how to combat their mental health.

At the age of 16, Takara grew anxious; she developed social anxiety, constantly shaking at the sight of others. Her family, concerned for her, homeschooled her until she went to university. In fear too much social stimulation would harm her, they did what they could to re-acclimate her to society and others. Throughout the years, eventually her social anxiety lessened, and she learned to manage it more properly. Only pushing her towards the medical field even more as she struggled with it herself and wanted to help others.

Despite her mental struggles, she had a few friends: Marianna and Tonia Hanjo. These two siblings would grow to be her close friends as she went through homeschooling and university. From pen pals to lifetime friends, they were all she had, yet they benefited her greatly, even being part of the reason she was able to overcome the majority of her social anxiety. They pushed her to socialize during university and helped her accomplish some goals and applauded her at big moments. They were her support system for the majority of her life. Eventually, after university, she began to intern at a hospital in Quebec. Soon enough, she began to seek further knowledge and figured moving to the Americas was the best opportunity. Though it’d be sad leaving her family behind, she knew it would greatly benefit her learning, and they’d be proud nonetheless. Eventually she moved to East Falls and began to study medicine there for some time. Leaving us to the current day, where she is now...

What position are you applying for? You may state a position that is not currently available, and it will be checked once that slot opens:

Why do you want to work on our team?:

“The East Falls Clinic has a great reputation for being reputable for their work in helping others in the city. Given the large gang violence, they’ve also done a great job at building the trust of the community in helping them heal most injuries, whether that be mental or physical.”

Provide a list of staff titles and their jobs/descriptions:

Whilst in the hospital how should you and your co-workers behave? If you see something wrong, what should you do about it?:
“We should all be behaving in a professional manner, as it is our workplace and a setting of professionalism. If someone was acting out of line, I’d suggest to them to act correctly before informing a superior, as it’s unacceptable and could look bad on the clinic if it were to continue.”

What experience do you have working in a medical setting? If none, put N/A:

“I interned at a hospital in Quebec, Canada, whilst receiving my degree in psychology and medicine. During that time I experienced an array of patients, from those dealing with minor injuries to more serious illnesses, both mental and illnesses of the mind.”

What responsibilities do you hold as a hospital staff member?:

“As a staff member, my goal is to do my job properly while helping others to make theirs easier if possible. I am to assist patients and my fellow clinicians as told whilst completing my job to the fullest.”

How would you manage a patient that was being uncooperative or rowdy?:

“My first instinct would be to attempt to calm the patient, as perhaps they’re acting out of a fit of emotion. If this were to falter or be in vai,n I’d then seek to neutralize them if they began to become a physical danger to those around them. However if a lack of physical restraint would be possible, I’d try my best to achieve it through words rather than getting force involved.”

The paper ended with another message: “Thank you for taking the time to fill out this paper. We truly appreciate it! Before you can submit this, please sign the document!”

The document was signed with Takara's name both in kanji and her formal signature.

Unfortunately your application has been DENIED.

FEEDBACK

  • Spoiler
    • Your injuries and their resolutions were vague and did not include enough detail when answering "Give us 3 examples of injuries, and their resolutions"
    • Refrain from broad injuries such as; Anxiety, or Choking; Include a bit of backstory; Type of injury e.g; Severity, explain the process and resolution.
    • You did not include an accurate representation of BPD; BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and BD (Bipolar Disorder) are not the same. BPD is a personality disorder, whereas BD is a mood disorder, despite similarities their treatment and resolution are different.

You may reapply, if you have any further questions you may DM @Traccia
