Geography of East Falls
════════════════════════════════
The historic town of East Falls is located in the Midwest region of the United States of America. It resides in northwestern Wyoming, north of Wyoming’s Ocean Lake and east of Kinnear. It is located between the Owl Crack Mountains, a subrange of mountains from the Rocky Mountain range.

Historical Background of East Falls
Wyoming, a state known for its vast open lands, farming industry, and vast mountains from the Rocky Mountain range. Historically, Wyoming was known for its cattle-raising industry, hay and corn farming, and its vast amount of resources from mining- specifically Uranium mines, which were of great use to the US government during the 1900s.
Early Industries
The Failures
Fishing
In the 19th century (1800-1850), the location that is now East Falls used to be a massive uninhabited forest land, harboring over Ocean Lake. Early settlers would fish in the lake, trying to catch fish such as brown trout, perch bass, bluegills, and many other types. Despite the effort by early settlers to establish a solid fishing industry from Ocean Lake, they were unfortunately met with failure. Many settlers documented that signs of fish activity were rare and an uncommon occurrence. On the rare occasions fishermen were able to catch something, the fish would return “deformed” as documented by the early settlers. These unnerving (and unsuccessful) findings drove many settlers away, looking for a different use for the land of East Falls. Experts say Ocean Lake is healthy and thriving in the modern day, however, it is still unknown why early settlers were unable to find success in fishing during the early 1800s.
Early Farming
Around the mid-1800s (1850-1899), early settlers from the East travelled to the west in hopes of starting successful farms. Wyoming was a large hotspot for these new farmers, growing crops such as hay, wheat, corn, sugar beats and pumpkins.
Many farmers attempted to grow their crops in the East Falls area, only to be met with disappointment. Many farmers failed to grow any crops in the land, and many experts to this day are skeptical about the cause of these failures, claiming the land had the perfect conditions to grow many of the usual crops Wyoming excels in producing. The soil, atmosphere, and fertility of the land all indicate the land’s potential for crop development, but despite these near perfect conditions, there were only unsuccessful efforts, with only a handful of farmers able to maintain a living in the area.
The Successes
Corn and Hay Industry
After decades of failed farms in the East Falls area, it looked as if the land was to be deserted with no hope for any opportunity. Until the year 1900, when a farmer was able to cultivate and irrigate the soil perfectly for the growth of hay and corn.
Whether it was pure luck or a genius tactic, farmer Thomas Isnair was the first settler to achieve success in the East Falls area, growing his farm industry by hiring workers, buying smaller farms from early settlers, and exporting and supplying food to both local and regional markets of Wyoming.
This industry would spark the first massive migration of settlers into East Falls. To this day, the Isnair Farm still exists and persists as the largest exporter of hay, corn, pumpkins, and sugar beets in the Wyoming market. It is now known as the EverGreen Acres.
Early Mining
While early settlers were focused on cultivating the land, other industries had their sights on the vast resources from Wyoming’s open mines. Wyoming’s mines have many useful resources such coal, trona, nephrite jade, limestone, and most importantly uranium.
Under East Falls is a large collection of uranium, coal, and nephrite jade. These resources were mined by small companies in the early 1900s and sold to markets in the east coast for profit. The most notable of these companies was X-Corp, a now modern medicine development company. In their early days in 1900-1945, they specialized in mining the vast amount of uranium located under East Falls, selling it to the US as government contractors.
After the second world war, the US no longer needed a high supply of uranium, supplying it from foreign countries instead for cheaper prices. Due to this sudden change, X-Corp would change their face and purpose, transitioning to a pharmaceutical company in 1946 that specialized in making modern medicine and astute research for treating incurable diseases such as cancer, leukemia, and many other chronic conditions. This allowed X-Corp to survive as a company and continue to make profit from donations, retail companies buying medicines/treatments, and hospitals needing medical supplies and drugs for patients.
Formation of East Falls
The massive success of the farming and mining industry in 1900, sparked by Isnair and X-Corp, led to a massive migration of people into East Falls. Many settlers arrived as workers for Isnair’s farms and X-Corp’s mines, leading to homes and shops to be built and populated in East Falls. The success of the industries brought economic prosperity in the area, allowing for neighborhoods to be built, shops to start up successfully, and other businesses to grow- such as the casino, arcade, bar, and many others.
In 1906, the people of East Falls along with the family of Isnair and the family behind X-Corp came together to officially establish East Falls as a town in Wyoming. A petition to establish East Falls was almost unanimously signed “yes” by the new residents, and then officially approved by the Wyoming State governor of the time Bryant Butler Brooks on October 13th, 1906.
Thus, East Falls was formed, a small town in the middle of Wyoming that specialized in uranium mining, hay and corn farming, and, later on in 1946, housing one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the Midwest.
Early Crime
The town would face hardships and difficulties throughout the American 20th century. As decades went on, the town would face hardships from historical events such as the great depression and the first and second world war. These times would prove difficult for workers, leading to a few residents moving away or dying out to the economic failures of the time. The most notable hardship was the growth of crime and gang activity in East Falls.
Stemming from the Great Depression, crime would begin to increase as residents found it harder to afford housing and food for their families and loved ones. At first, crime started as simple muggings or violent robberies, but later, around the 1930s, turned into organized activity, using the previously failed Ocean Lake to export and import illegal goods to sell and profit from. In the modern day, these activities still persist and are continuously being dealt with by the East Falls Police Department.
